Ogden Standard Examiner 2 Dec. 1969 - Ogden Youth, 16, Dies In Leap From Hospital. An Ogden teen-ager leaped 45 feet to his death from a rooftop Monday night, ignoring the pleas of a security policeman who stood helplessly below. The victim was identified as Richard Barry Singleton, 16, son of Mr. and Mrs. James L. Evans of 4782 Oxford Dr. Investigators said the youth plunged headlong to a hard-surfaced parking lot from the roof of the Doctors' Professional Building at McKay Hospital. He was not a patient. Authorities believe the youth may have reached the roof by climbing an outside stairway, then working his way up a short pillar. Outside entrances were locked. Reports said the youth's car was found about two blocks from the locationtion. The youth was standing at one corner of the building, his arms outstretched. Ignoring the agent's pleas, the boy cried out a second tune then dove to the ground, hitting on his head and back. Death was almost instantaneous, Dr.. A. M. Davenport was summoned from the hospital's emergency room, but his efforts proved futile. He said the youth died of massive head injuries. A post mortem was to be performed today.
